VIAN ROOS. I am a creative person, who focuses on publication design and photography. I am currently the art director at Farmer’s Weekly magazine, South Africa’s oldest and most respected agricultural magazine. I am responsible for managing and overseeing the design team and its weekly schedule, the magazine’s brand and the general ‘look and feel’ of the print and digital issues. Meeting deadlines, a keen eye for detail and upholding a high quality of work is very important to me and I take calculated risks in doing so. My part-time lecturer position at Vega School is a reflection of my passion for education and teaching others.

I am also a keen photographer who is inspired by the everyday and ordinary life stories of South Africans. I frequently travel the country, stopping in many of the small towns along the way to take photographs. My aim is not to style photos, but rather to capture real moments.
